The Buxton Cycling Club held their annual sports in July 1901 on the Silverlands. The Buxton Advertiser reports that "There was a large attendance and the running was good, but there were far too many spills in the cycle event owing to the track being slippery". The bicycle events were; ½ mile Open and 1 mile Novices, which with heats resulted in 18 races.
